10 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2018

4. The Purge 4

The Purge Is Becoming A Tv Series 01

The Purge is that rare horror franchise that's both remained watchable and avoided heading straight to DVD as it continues to pump out sequels, and next year's The Purge 4 will look to continue both those trends.

That title is a curious one, though. Consider this a spoiler warning for The Purge: Election Year, but at the end of that movie, the annual Purge is set to be abolished after Senator Roan wins the Presidential Election.

This made the announcement of another sequel an unexpected one. If the Purge is no more, what will the film be about?

If the series continues to head forward in time then it's rumoured the sequel will be about people rioting in protest of the Purge being stopped, but according to James DeMonaco (who helmed the first three instalments) The Purge 4 will likely be a prequel.

Speaking to CinemaBlend in 2016, he said:

"I don't think I'll direct it. I would actually go back and I would try to talk about how it all started. That seems the natural next chapter in this, is to say, 'Alright, we've done this trilogy. We see how it got to this point of someone trying to end it - this presidential figure. Now let's go back and see how the f*** all this came about.' How did this country get to a place where we were now accepting this kind of atrocity, this terrible thing, each year? I think there's something interesting in that.

The Purge 4 was quietly announced earlier this year, and nothing else about it has been revealed since.

He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too.
