10 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2023

2. The Equalizer 3

Denzel Washington's Equalizer franchise has quietly racked up an impressive box-office haul across its first two movies. Combined, they've grossed $382 million off $117 million in production costs, so continuing the series was a no-brainer.

Starring Washington as former Marine and all-round badass Robert McCall, The Equalizer was based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, and opened to a warm reception back in September 2014. The Equalizer 2 followed in July 2018, and just a few months ago, Sony confirmed that the third instalment will hit cinemas in September 2023.

While discussing his excitement for the project in a recent interview, Washington offered up the most unabashed description of The Equalizer you could possibly imagine, saying "I gotta get in shape and start beating people up again. I get to beat people up again. Can't get any better, right?"

And, well, he's not wrong. It's incredibly entertaining to watch an actor of his calibre play the cool, calm, and collected action hero, and with director Antoine Fuqua once again leading the charge, The Equalizer 3 is primed to be just as good as the first two.
