10 Movie Sequels You Have No Idea Were Just Released
7. Bring It On: Cheer Or Die
Despite 2000's cheerleader comedy Bring It On grossing almost $100 million against a mere $11 million budget, every single one of its shockingly abundant sequels have gone the direct-to-video route.
Believe it or not, there are seven Bring It On movies, with the recently released Bring It On: Cheer or Die marking an extremely bizarre and totally unexpected pivot into slasher film territory.
Produced for the SyFy channel, this is an almost laudably left-field entry into a franchise that's been spinning its wheels for close to 20 years, yet it also can't be called a good film in any respect whatsoever.
Though a campy horror-themed retooling of the franchise - focused on bitchy cheerleaders turning on one another - could've been fun, Cheer or Die lacks the charm, subversive quality, or even basic production values that might make it a worthwhile sit.
Bafflingly produced as a bloodless PG-13 despite airing on TV, this is a bargain basement exercise in brand extension sure to satisfy no-one - neither fans of the previous films nor those who love a schlocky horror movie.
