4. Drago Spinoff

Unless you follow Sylvester Stallone on Instagram, it's likely that the controversy surrounding the rumored upcoming Drago spinoff may have escaped your attention.

While Dolph Lundgren has taken to social media to dispel any rumors of the film being confirmed, Stallone went on a now-deleted Instagram rampage regarding the purported Drago outing that would put Conor McGregor to shame. He referred to producer Irwin Winkler and his sons as "parasites" and "moronic vultures", before tearing into Lundgren for his alleged participation in what Sly clearly saw as a massive betrayal, prompting Lundgren's own post to protest his innocence.

There's good news and bad news here. The bad news is that Lundgren is apparently not onboard, which is a huge blow to any potential spinoff. On the other hand, the good news is that the concept of a Drago film is clearly not too far off production if Stallone is going as far as airing his dirty laundry on social media, and it is an absolutely enticing one.

The world of Russian boxing is the polar opposite of the American version so frequently seen in the Rocky and Creed series, and is ripe for potential dramatic exploration. Political pressures, doping, sportswashing: the tale of Drago is a perfect launching pad for a darker, grittier take on Rocky, which will be vital in revitalizing the franchise after Creed III hits screens in 2023.
