10 Movie Trailers Released BEFORE FX Was Added
7. Jurassic Park
The very first theatrical-exclusive teaser trailer for Jurassic Park did a generally excellent job of selling Steven Spielberg's soon-to-be-iconic blockbuster to audiences, though also ended up using one notably incomplete effects shot.
During a tease of the climactic sequence where Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and company are stalked by a raptor, the dinosaur hadn't yet been animated at all, and so the trailer simply showed an empty space where the creature would be.
Though this version of the trailer sadly doesn't seem to be available anywhere online, Twitter account Adventure Collectibles sourced an image scanned from an original 35mm print of the trailer, with the final movie shot provided for comparison:
The first trailer for #JurassicPark had an unfinished CGI shot of what was supposed to be an approaching raptor, except the raptor was missing. The trailer was cut together before the CGI was completed. Here’s the shot, scanned from an original 35mm trailer. #StaySafeStayJurassic pic.twitter.com/CgOORd1Nfs
