Christopher Nolan is one of the most precise and exacting filmmakers working today, and his high standing in the industry also allows him an uncommon amount of control over how his movies are marketed.

So, it's a little surprising that he allowed a mistake to sneak into the original teaser trailer for his Oscar-winning war epic Dunkirk, which dropped almost an entire year before the film finally landed in cinemas.

The teaser climaxes with a packed fleet of soldiers staring into the sky and ducking for cover as an enemy plane flies overhead, but fans soon noticed that one of the soldier actors in the scene seemed more amused than concerned.

The unnamed extra is seen straight-up smirking into the sky, which is clearly not the expression Nolan would've wanted from a supposedly terrified soldier.

Whether motivated by the Internet's mockery of the situation or his own sheer desire to get things right, Nolan had the shot digitally corrected for the final film, where the man's smile is transformed into a far more afraid-looking frown. Hilarious.
