10 Movie Trailers Released BEFORE FX Was Added

Avengers Endgame Tony Stark

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well known for using trailers to deliberately mislead audiences, such as including shots in the marketing for Avengers: Infinity War which didn't even appear in the final film, or often digitally removing spoiler-specific characters.

But the long-awaited first trailer for Avengers: Endgame actually featured a sliver of pre-CGI footage of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) while he's stranded in deep space.

In the trailer clip Stark appears relatively healthy and well-nourished all things considered, but in the final version of the scene, he's been digitally altered to look emaciated from the several weeks he spent marooned in space.

While MCU trailers have made many clever alterations and edits to avoid spoilers, that clearly wasn't the case here considering that everyone already knew Tony was stranded at the end of Infinity War.

Instead, the slimming-down effects simply hadn't been completed when this trailer, released almost five months before Endgame hit cinemas, was put together.
