10 Movie Trilogy Conclusions Fans Are Still Desperate To See

6. The Raid

Shot on a miniscule budget with unknown actors and a first time director, The Raid: Redemption came out of nowhere and went on to become one of the most successful martial arts movies of the decade. Raw, uncompromising and featuring some brutal and bloody choreography, it recalled the kung fu movies of the late '70s, where non-stop action trumped storyline. With a bigger budget to play with, director Gareth Evans upped his game with The Raid 2: Berendal and staged action scenes which wouldn't have been out of place on a Hollywood movie with ten times the budget. Taking his cue from the Heroic Bloodshed movies popularised by John Woo in the late '80s and early '90s he fleshed out the plot, too, with double-crossing gangsters and undercover cops thrown into the chaotic mix. When can we expect the final instalment? It's been just over a year since The Raid 2 came out and Evans is taking a well deserved break. Earlier this year he tweeted the following message on the issue: "The Raid 3 isn€™t going to be happening anytime soon. Ideas in my head. Nothing written. No set date. 2018/19 possibly." Vague, but fans can take comfort in the knowledge that it's still in the pipeline.
