10 Movie Trilogy Conclusions Fans Are Still Desperate To See
3. Kick-Ass
Put a foul-mouthed child superhero with a knack for taking out villains in brutal style in your movie and controversy is all but guaranteed. Chloƫ Grace Moretz was just 12 years old when she first donned Hit-Girl's costume, delivering such lines as "Okay you c**ts, let's see what you can do now." Director Matthew Vaughn managed to elevate the material well above crudity for the sake of it, and Kick-Ass was a welcome subversive R-rated parody of the comic book superhero world. Vaughn's absence from the sequel led to a notable dip in quality, while Jim Carrey's decision to drop out from supporting the film on account of its violence no doubt impacted upon the lukewarm reception at the box office. When can we expect the final instalment? Kick-Ass 2's disappointing performance at the box office wasn't enough to derail the possibility of a third instalment entirely, but it certainly slowed development down. Moretz expressed enthusiasm after the sequel was released, but has since gone cold on the idea, telling Digital Spy in 2014, "sadly, I think I'm done with ". More recently, however, Matthew Vaughn has hinted at the possiblity of taking the franchise into the past with a prequel centering around Hit-Girl. Speaking to JoBlo earlier this year, Vaughn said, "If that happens, I'm pretty sure I can persuade Aaron and Chloe to come back and finish the story of Kick-Ass with Kick-Ass 3... Mark Millar and I have already plotted Hit Girl. We have to get the script done next. It's so far out there, you have no idea."
