10 Movie Villains Obsessed With Immortality

9. Dr. Henry Frankenstein - Frankenstein (1931)

Malcom Mcdowell Burn

Another of the many doctors to make this list, Frankenstein is the epitome of the mad scientist. He desires not merely to extend life, but reverse death after the fact, defying the natural order. He makes no bones about his mania, declaring, "Now I know what it feels like to be God." And just like a creator or parent, Frankenstein wants to live forever vicariously.

Indeed he must play dad and introduce his childlike monster to the world, where it inevitably loses its innocence and discovers its own hideousness. Of course, the most memorable scene illustrating this is when the monster throws flowers into a lake with his friend, a little girl, only to throw her in and watch her die soon after.

Frankenstein also is an iconic example of the "Who is the real monster?" concept, as the final scenes show an angry mob hell-bent on murdering the monster.
