10 Movie Villains Who Foreshadow Their Biggest Fears
1. Harvey Dent Lives Long Enough To Become The Villain - The Dark Knight
The headlines may have been quite rightly stolen by Heath Ledger's undeniable portrayal of The Joker and Christian Bale's further establishing of his Caped Crusader as arguably the greatest Bats to ever hit the big screen, but it was arguably Aaron Eckhart's tragic turn as the unfortunate Harvey Dent that packed the most painful punch over the course of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.
His eventual fall into madness on the back of having to watch his beloved Rachel Dawes die in The Joker's flames was very much on the cards from the second Dent chose to sit down and converse with The Batman himself Bruce Wayne over dinner early in the flick, however.
In said exchange with the apparent billionaire playboy and Rachel, Dent unashamedly presents arguably his greatest fear to the group for all to see. His fateful words of "you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" would ultimately ring true, as it goes.
After being responsible for murdering a number of folks in his pursuit of "fair" justice, the eventual Two-Face lived long enough to go from the man capable of saving Gotham, to no better than the rest of those dragging it into darkness before falling to his climactic death.
