10 Movie Villains Who Foreshadow Their Biggest Fears
6. Elsa Can't Pass Up The Chance To Grab The Holy Grail - Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
For better or worse, some folks will simply stop at nothing to get the thing they want most in this world. And it was Alison Doody's Elsa Schneider's fear of not being able to gain possession of the sacred Holy Grail that drove her to stabbing her one-time lover Indiana Jones in the back throughout the runtime of The Last Crusade.
But it was some rather specific words to one of the Jones men she seduced that eventually acted as a rather unsettling piece of foreshadowing for her eventual fate. As Elsa noted to a clearly disappointed Henry Jones Jr, "Don't look at me like that. We both wanted the Grail. I would have done anything to get it. You would have done the same."
This, coupled with Indy's response of "I'm sorry you think so," would eventually play into the film's climactic stages, with Elsa trying with all her might to grab hold of the Grail despite it likely leading to her death as she held onto Jones' hand above a recently made crevice. In the end, her glove would fatally ultimately slip from Indy's grasp as she tried to do anything to get the prize, with Jones instead letting it go as he alluded to earlier on.
