10 Movie Villains Who Had Warts On Their Souls

1. The People Under The Stairs: Mommy And Daddy

Released in 1991, The People Under the Stairs may be horror icon/Freddy Krueger creator Wes Craven's most satirically pointed film.

It's also easily the director's most underrated effort, combining the brutal, gruesome intensity of his early work such as The Hills Have Eyes with the satirical wit of later hits like Scream and New Nightmare. However, the target of this film's sharp political point is not Hollywood itself, but rather the uber-rich suburbanites profiting from Ronald Reagan's abandonment of poorer Americans.

That's where this pair of villains come in.

The film followed the story of Fool, a disadvantaged child whose only chance at normal life relies on him helping a group of associates rob from Mommy and Daddy Robeson. Only it's not really robbing, as these two unapologetic slum lords have been robbing the residents of this impoverished community for years only to hoard all their wealth in a labyrinthine mansion.

And it only gets worse.

See, the twisted pair of parents from this creepy horror are truly messed up and utterly unapologetic abusers who have kidnapped and attempted to mould countless children into "perfect" offspring over the years, abandoning them to a lightless basement to become sightless, barely surviving cannibals when they step out of line.

Perfectly encapsulating the worst excesses of eighties America, Mommy and Daddy are a pair of unthinking, unfeeling, possibly incestuous monsters who prove that too much money really will rot, or rather wart, your soul.
