10 Movie Villains Who Had Warts On Their Souls
2. Scream 4: Jill Roberts
Much like The Hard Way and MIB III, the addition of a villain from Scream 4 to this list may feel a little unexpected.
Yes, the meta-slasher series has a string of twisted killers each of whom had their own disturbing brand of inhuman evil.
But the screenplays by I Know What You Did Last Summer scribe Kevin Williamson ensured that these baddies were always as witty, flip, and ironically detached as their victims. The "teen horror" tone meant the movies were never as outright dark and serious as the likes of Dead Man's Shoes despite higher body counts.
But even with the film's over-the-top tone take into consideration, Scream 4's villain Jill Roberts more than earns her place her.
With none of the personal vendettas or twisted logic of the series’ earlier killers, this one was willing to murder scores of people (including her own mum) for a second of fame. That's it: a desire to be vaguely famous drives her remorseless murder of not only all her friends, but also her own co-conspirator.
This shocking twist works so well because of how depraved and unexpected the motivation is, a memorably dark idea that sticks with the viewer long after the credits roll.
