10 Movie Villains Who Will Kick Ass In 2018

3. Megalodon Shark (The Meg)

It's almost impossible for a 70-foot shark to not be a completely destructive force of nature and one of the most dangerous movie villains of the year, so right off the bat, the enormous beast featured in The Meg has everything going for it.

Starring Jason Statham as a deep-sea diver recruited for a special underwater mission, The Meg boasts a production budget of around $150 million, meaning that the filmmakers have enough cash to ensure that the titular beast is designed and rendered in an impeccable fashion - which will only make it more effective.

And by "effective" we mean absolutely petrifying and bone-chillingly ruthless, because as the movies often tell us, sharks are tough, bloodthirsty killers with never-ending appetites, and since the shark featured in The Meg is around five times bigger than a standard great white, does that mean its killer instinct is five times greater too?

When all is said and done, the team behind The Meg has a rather easy task. Just show the shark kill, kill again, and kill some more, show it break down every obstacle the protagonists can throw at it, and show it outsmarting them at every turn.

Audiences are already afraid of sharks thanks to the consistent glut of movies starring the creatures, but since this shark is 70-feet long, The Meg has a shot at delivering a unique underwater creature that will make an entire generation afraid to go in the water.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
