10 Movies That Abused Animal Rights During Production
5. Eight Below Had A Dog Punched On Set
An amiable Disney film about cuddly snow dogs really shouldn't be on this list. But sadly, instead of merely creating the allusion of danger, Eight Below inflicted very real stress and trauma on its animal stars. The AHA seemed satisfied with the treatment of the animals on the set of the family adventure movie, but leaked reports suggest extremely questionable behavior exhibited by trainers. According to these evaluations, several of the dogs showed signs of visible exhaustion, one fell ill, and several began fighting among each other. One trainer eventually became frustrated by a particular dog's disobedient behavior, and subjected it to brute force by punching the canine several times in the diaphragm. That sounds a little over-the-top for dog discipline.
