10 Movies That Would Actually Benefit From A Remake

9. A Sound Of Thunder (2005)

The reputation of this movie will probably stop a remake from ever getting off the ground simply by association, which is a real shame as Ray Bradbury's original 1952 short story has a brilliant central concept, and an inherently cinematic one at that. Unfortunately, the 2005 adaptation is well-known for all the wrong reasons. When the best thing about your movie is Ben Kingsley's wig, you know you're in trouble. A Sound of Thunder's $80m budget was provided by companies from the UK, United States, the Czech Republic and Germany but a tortured production saw floods in Prague wipe out some of the sets, while Franchise Pictures went bankrupt before the movie was completed, which left no money to finish the project to a suitable standard. It showed, as A Sound of Thunder has some of the worst effects ever seen in a Hollywood movie. A full two years after the end of principal photography, the movie was dumped in theaters to overwhelmingly negative reviews and an embarrassing box office total of $11.7m worldwide. There is a reason that the original short story is one of the most published sci-fi stories in history and done right, A Sound of Thunder has the potential to be a great high-concept blockbuster. The idea of 'time tourists' on a dinosaur safari in the past would lend itself to some great set-pieces, while the repercussions from the smallest alterations could blend in elements of a dystopian thriller, with a twisting plot that could balance smarts with spectacle.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
