10 Movies That Almost Had Much Better Endings

2. Globo-Gym Win - DodgeBall

20th Century Fox

The Official Ending: It's the worldwide showdown between big business and the little guy embodied in the form of a high school favourite sport. Vince Vaugn's Average Joes take on Ben Stiller's Globo-Gym at a dodgeball game and, because this is a film, they win. But it's not just a sense of pride they get; every supporting character gets their own happy resolution, while Stiller's White Goodman sees himself jobless and humiliated. Ah, the movies.

The One We Almost Got: Globo-Gym win. And that's literally it. The bad guys beat the good guys, they celebrate and the film cuts to the credits. Well... that was unexpected.

Why It Would Have Been Better: It initially seems a bit of a flat finale, undercutting all the development in the film, but could have actually stood as DodgeBall's best joke. After sticking so close to the genre clichés this is an original stroke of genius. It'd no doubt leave people a little disgruntled at first, but on rewatch (after all, DodgeBall is layered) it'd become increasingly funny as the ridiculousness of the film can be better appreciated. It also makes the subtitle, A True Underdog Story, a little more truthful.
