10 Movies Based On Books That Should've NEVER Been Made

Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments book series was a hit for the teen and young adult category from 2007-2014. The first film was promised to receive the same hype and was released a year before the conclusion of the books, starring Lily Collins as a young girl Clary, who discovers she is a half-angel warrior Shadowhunter, joining the team in a fight against demons in the middle of New York City.

Again, however, the received box office revenue did not serve well and Rotten Tomatoes rated it at a low 14 percent after many of the elements within the film were claimed to be overused for the genre. Book nerds and cinema goers alike were confused by the changes in plot and style.

The second movie City Of Ashes was however secured even after the bad response to the first, but this was dropped not long after as the production companies moved on.

The series did not end there and an American TV show adaptation Mortal Instruments: Shadowhunters was released, following a new set of actors in the narrative. This ceased after 3 seasons, again due to the response from book fans and audiences.
