10 Movies Everyone Attributes To The Wrong Director
8. Any Studio Ghibli Movie - Hayao Miyazaki
Studio Ghibli are the Japanese studio behind a number of classic animated movies, perhaps their most famous efforts being Grave of the Fireflies, My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke, the Oscar-winning Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. Their de facto mascot of sorts is Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of the studio and director of 9 Ghibli movies before his recent retirement, but many will be quick to assume that he has, in fact, directed all 19 of their films to date due to his public profile. In fact, Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata has directed 5 Ghibli movies himself (including one of the best, Grave of the Fireflies), while Gor Miyazaki has directed 2, and Yoshifumi Kond, Hiroyuki Morita and Hiromasa Yonebayashi have all directed one each. Miyazaki is clearly the studio's most prolific director, and given the stylistic consistency of Ghibli's oeuvre, it's easy to assume that he directed the lot, which simply isn't the case (though would certainly have been an impressive feat).
