10 Movies Everyone Skips In A Franchise

5. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

A Good Day to Die Hard
Paramount

The "curse" of every odd-numbered Star Trek movie being not-great reached its ultimate expression with the William Shatner-directed dud that was Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

Following up the utterly bonkers Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, The Final Frontier is a mostly leaden slog that focuses on Kirk (Shatner) and company going face-to-face with Spock's (Leonard Nimoy) half-brother as he seeks out God at the center of the galaxy.

Between the lackluster storyline and Shatner's less-than-stellar filmmaking - admittedly constrained by budget cuts and a tight production timeframe - The Final Frontier is the one genuinely tiresome Trek movie.

It does in fairness have a few good scenes, mostly those focusing on Bones (Deforest Kelly), but you're honestly better off just watching them on YouTube, because getting through the entire movie - even at a seemingly reasonable 106 minutes - is quite the chore.
