10 Movies Everyone Thinks Are Based On A True Story (But Aren't)
3. Jennifer's Body
As silly as it might sound, there are many who seemingly swear blind that 2009's horror-comedy Jennifer's Body - in which Megan Fox plays the titular, demonically possessed high school girl - has its rootings in a real tragedy.
There are countless articles online which claim that Jennifer's Body was inspired by the case of 15-year-old Elyse Pahler, who in 1995 was murdered by three teenage boys as part of a satanic ritual.
And though the film's plot is set in motion by Jennifer being ritualistically sacrificed by a group of men, that's really where the similarities start and end.
It's not exactly a majorly specific idea, of men preying on and sacrificing a young woman to Satan, and given that writer Diablo Cody hasn't ever stated that Pahler's murder influenced the script, it's incredibly easy to dismiss this theory as totally baseless.
