10 Movies From 2016 That Are Guaranteed To Be Great
8. Everybody Wants Some
Richard Linklater's "spiritual successor" to Dazed & Confused certainly has people intrigued, and it's obvious why. Having been on a bit of a winning streak for oh, ten years (at least) means that just based on probability alone, his next film has to be as good as the last few. Based on the popularity of the aforementioned cult classic, people will be excited to check out his return to tales of drifting youngsters in a retro setting. His self-established experience in the sub-sub-genre makes him uniquely qualified for the job, and this time it's college kids in the 80s (as opposed to high school kids in the late 70s) - which means he has a whole different set of clichés and tenets to play around with and subvert. As with Dazed & Confused, he's gone the route of casting mostly-unknowns, which is a strong move - considering his ability to work with young, inexperienced actors and still make them come off pretty damn well... all bridge-of-nose-clenching aside. Everybody Wants Some is guaranteed to be an entertaining romp through the decade which most people prefer to forget, and that's all down to Linklater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyL4yYMdTiA Everybody Wants Some is released on 1 April.
