10 Movies From 2016 That Are Guaranteed To Be Great

3. The Nice Guys

Shane Black, the godfather of the buddy-action sub-genre, is set to make a stunning return in May with The Nice Guys, this time with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling sharing the screen. Set in 1970s California, the former is an enforcer for a loan shark who gets roped into tracking down a missing girl. He persuades former victim/private investigator Gosling to assist him; bullets and hilarity ensue. Black's track record for this kind of stuff - the Lethal Weapon movies, The Last Boy Scout, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang - is pretty solid. And say what you will about Iron Man 3, but as a buddy-action flick it works. Unleashing Black upon the genre once more is a guaranteed good time. Also, the trailer having multiple laugh-out-loud moments is a good sign.
