10 Movies From 2018 That Were Completely Pointless
9. Monster Family
You'd be forgiven for not knowing that Monster Family even existed, such was the speed with which it disappeared from the theaters in the wake of terrible reviews and meager box office returns. The animated feature came across as a bargain-basement knock-off of the Hotel Transylvania franchise, which is a damning indictment if ever there was one.
Even the plot points are superficially similar and just as uninspired; Dracula is lonely, the message is the about the importance of family and in a stunning piece of originality, the character that gets turned into Frankenstein's Monster is called... Frank. What are the chances!
Despite a promotional tie-in with broadcaster Sky in the UK, Monster Family earned less than $500,000 in British theaters, which was at least a hell of a lot better than the $127,000 it made in the United States. With a global total of just $26.4m and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 10%, the handful of people that even saw it have probably forgotten about it already.
