10 Movies From 2018 That Were Completely Pointless

8. Action Point

Based on New Jersey's notorious Action Park, known for its poorly-designed rides, under-trained and underage staff and a blatant disregard for safety that resulted in a series of fatalities, Action Point's brief spell in cinemas showed that Johnny Knoxville's self-harming brand of physical comedy just isn't relevant anymore.

Given the long, long, long history of drug and alcohol abuse, injuries, deaths and lawsuits that plagued the real park that inspired the project, loosely adapting it into a studio comedy with a summer release date seemed like a questionable decision, but its not like anybody bothered going to see Action Point anyway.

You at least have to admire Knoxville for putting himself through hell for the sake of the movie, but once it hit theaters with the merest of whimpers, he may have wished he'd saved himself the trouble. The $19m feature was predicted to earn $10m during its opening weekend, but couldn't even manage 25% of that total, scoring one of the worst openings ever for a movie playing in over 2000 theaters.

Two weeks later it was gone from cinemas entirely as if it was never even there, but the scars will last its star a lifetime.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
