7. Dumbo
While Disney has surely brushed the failure of this film off with a shrug and a reassuring visit to the top grossing films of 2019 Wikipedia page to remind themselves of just how much money they have, the ridiculous highs and lows of their live action endeavours really are fascinating.
Dumbo sits at about the same critical approval rating as Aladdin and The Lion King, and yet this film only earned $350 million while Aladdin enjoys its billion dollar gross and The Lion King took almost half a billion in its opening week.
Audiences just didn't care about this film or what it had to say. Dumbo may be a Disney classic, but it just didn't have the fanbase the way other animated classic properties do to propel it past its mediocre critical reception.
Whether you liked Aladdin or The Lion King or not, the sheer audience turnout and their divisive filmmaking choices will make sure they're remembered. Dumbo will not.
