10 Movies From 2019 Everyone's Already Forgotten
4. Triple Frontier
Netflix has a bad habit of dropping way too much money on films they just can't be bothered to promote.
With one of Netflix's largest price tags to date ($115 million, though soon to be vastly beat out by the respective $200 million budgets of both The Irishman and Red Notice), Triple Frontier was expected to be the streaming service's equivalent of a blockbuster.
While Netflix has announced the movie was viewed 52 million times in its first month, their general unwillingness to release viewing figures or box office receipts when their films do receive limited cinema releases makes their measure of success a little sketchy.
The film received mixed reviews, with many dubbing it the epitome of a "dad film". The Netflix model may be a unique one, but it's also a confusing one. It doesn't matter if 52 million accounts watch your movie; if they just slammed it on their laptop and left it on in the background, it won't be remembered. Seemingly, that was Triple Frontier's fate.
