10 Movies From The 2000s That Made More Money Than You Thought

5. Harry Potter And Philosopher's Stone

The Harry Potter films made money, but it's hard to believe the most financially successful was the first one, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The long window in which these films existed gave room for inflation to bolster the most recent film's success.

While the later ones are certainly better quality, the first few had the powerful origin story and newness to bring audiences in. Sorcerer's Stone adjusted for inflation made $504,000,000 - almost $100 million more than Deathly Hallows Part 2.

It's surprising that when adjusted for inflation everyone's favorite Prisoner of Azkaban is second to last, while the mediocre Philosopher's Stone takes top spot.
