7. Before Midnight
The Pitch: Meeting up with Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) once again in 2023, Richard Linklater will explore the next passage of their lives, as their twin daughters transition into adulthood, and the pair are left contending with empty nest syndrome. This is, of course, assuming that they stay together after the events of Before Midnight; otherwise the next movie will require a very different approach indeed.
Likelihood: Though the 9-year gestation period of the prior films makes this one a while off, it has already been discussed by Linklater, Hawke and Delpy, and if they fancy hedging their bets on crafting the most consistently brilliant quartet of films ever made, then they should totally do it.
