10 Movies Heroes You Didn't Realise Were Probably Psychopaths

9. Dom Cobb - Inception

Dominic Cobb - Dom for short - is the main protagonist of Chris Nolan's slick mind-bender of a movie, Inception. In the movie, Dom sets up an elaborate "mind heist" by invading the dreams of the heir to a corporate energy tycoon. At first glance, Dom seems like more of an anti-hero. When we meet him, he's in the criminal business of stealing secrets from rich world leaders. As we get to know him, however, we learn that Dom is just doing this because he was blamed for the murder of his wife and can't return to the United States to see his young children that his suicidal wife left behind. When we learn this, it's easy to sympathize with Cobb. From there, we want to see him succeed with his plan to escape the clutches of a criminal agency that wants him dead so that he can go back to building houses on cliffs with his kids. Why He's A Psychopath: Well, in order to accomplish his mission, Dom does something ridiculously risky. He gives the team a dose so strong that if they die in the dreams, they get trapped in limbo. Basically, they're doomed to a coma. Oh, and he doesn't tell them about this. Not until they find out that the dream they've invaded has a highly trained team of fake people determined to do nothing but kill them. So Dom decides it's all their fault for not knowing in the first place, and they go further into the dreams anyway. Why didn't he tell them in the first place? It's not because he didn't think they'd die. He just didn't want them to back out. He's such a sociopathic prick that he would risk their minds in order to get what he wants.
