10 Movies Heroes You Didn't Realise Were Probably Psychopaths
3. Rebecca Bloomwood - Confessions Of A Shopaholic
In Confessions of a Shopaholic, Rebecca Bloomwood is a spoiled shopping addict who dreams of working for a fashion magazine. In order to do this, she attempts to find success on a column for a magazine that is ironically called "Successful Savings." Her column is popular, but her debt-ridden past catches up with her when the bill collector she's been dodging exposes her debt and gets her fired. Why She's A Psychopath: We can't really say that her odd shopping compulsion is psychopathic behavior because it really only affects her. She's just a flawed person who spends money she doesn't have. What makes her a psychopath is how amoral she turns out to be when opportunities for redemption come her way. In a group meeting she has to attend, she is forced to donate all of her clothes, including a bridesmaid's dress for her best friend's wedding (who's been rooting for her all along) and a dress she bought to wear on television (where the bill collector exposes her debt). She chooses to keep the dress she was supposed to wear for the show, and almost ruins her relationship with the one person who's actually been taking care of her for the entire movie. It gets worse when she villainizes the debt collector who was simply doing his job. Sure, he was probably a bit too excessive, but it was her own fault for not paying her bills and forcing him to go to extreme lengths so he can keep his own job.
