10 Movies In Dire Need Of A Director's Commentary

7. The Abyss - James Cameron

abyss_water_face James Cameron's The Abyss is an underrated Sci-Fi masterpiece. Oh yeah, I will go that far. It's an intense and thought-provoking movie experience, and I think it's worthy of any film geek's collection. That being said, while every release of the film has some interesting special features, including a text commentary, it's still in major need of an audio commentary by the man who envisioned it, Mr. James Cameron himself. And whether you think James Cameron is a visionary genius or a hack doesn't matter. It'd still be educational to really hear him give his thoughts on the film. The Abyss is a highly ambitious film, especially in the extended special edition. Some do find that edition preachy, but regardless, I'd still love to hear Cameron talk about it on his own terms. If he can do a commentary for his other films, why not this one as well? Maybe there's logistics about it that I'm not aware of. Maybe Cameron doesn't think too highly of the film. I don't know. Either way, here's to hoping that the coming Blu-Ray release has a commentary!

What KC Mobley lacks in height, he makes up for in sheer passion. Especially when it comes to films and 80's heavy metal. Don't be afraid, he doesn't bite...much.
