6. The Signal

Sometimes violence breaks out in a movie theatre when tempers fray and noisy popcorn munching becomes far too much for someone to handle - it's fair to say that anyone who'd go to such lengths probably has a screw loose in the first place, although if the many incidents of road rage have taught us anything it's that people can snap at the smallest of incidents. Sometimes, however, the violence in the theatre bears a worrying resemblance to the violence occuring on screen, which is what happened during a screening of the gruesome low budget horror film, The Signal. There are numerous bloody scenes in the movie, but one featuring a stabbing took place almost in tandem with a real life stabbing in the auditorium. Midway through a screening at the Fullerton AMC Theater in Orange County, California, a young man in his twenties with black spikey hair is reported to have suddenly attacked the only two other people in the room, under what provocation remains unknown. One of the victims - both young men - was stabbed in the arm while the other had one of his lungs punctured. Fortunately both men survived the attack.
