7. Vanilla Sky

When the closing lines of a film are "Open your eyes", it's understandable to wonder whether anything you watched actually happened. That's the case of Vanilla Sky, another Tom Cruise film that plays with your head and makes you question everything you're watching. The whole film revolves around perceptions of reality; Cruise's character David ends up disfigured after a car crash with his ex girlfriend, before killing her, eventually discovering he was cryogenically frozen 150 years ago, and that this is all a lucid dream. To escape, all he has to do is jump. Perhaps David really was frozen in time, and the lucid dream really was a lucid dream. Perhaps the dream occurs after the car crash, and everything before that is true. Or maybe the whole film is a dream. It's hard to tell exactly, but certainly some of it isn't real.
