10 Movies Missing From Warner Bros.' DCEU Slate (And Why)

3. Deadshot

Deathstroke Justice League
Warner Bros.

In late 2016 (not quite 2017 this time!), it was revealed that a Deadshot movie was in the works starring Will Smith. The actor delivered a standout performance in Suicide Squad, and fans were overjoyed by the news that he was now set to receive his own spinoff.

A writer and director were never named, and when the news broke that James Gunn had been tasked with directing The Suicide Squad, it looked like Smith's days as the assassin were numbered. Idris Elba was reportedly cast as his replacement, but plans then changed, and the decision was made that the British actor should play a different character.

That certainly leaves the door open to Smith returning as Deadshot somewhere down the line, but chances are it won't be in his own movie...at least not for the time being.

Whereas Warner Bros. once seemed to think that giving every somewhat popular character a film was a smart move, they're now being pickier with what they spend money on. With Deadshot just an idea at the studio, it's really no wonder he's missing from this slate.
