10 Movies Nobody Asked For (That Might Be Great)

6. A Simple Favour 2

Jurassic World Rebirth
Lionsgate

Though Paul Feig's black comedy A Simple Favor was a solid critical and commercial hit in 2018, it doesn't really feel like the Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively-starring romp had much - if any - juice for a sequel.

After all, the first film ends with Lively's antagonist going to prison for 20 years, and with that it seemed like an open-and-shut standalone project. Furthermore, Darcey Bell's source novel doesn't have any sequels to speak of.

But earlier this year, it was confirmed that A Simple Favor 2 was in development, and indeed, the sequel was quietly filmed this past spring with Kendrick and Lively both returning.

It might sound like a desperation move as sequels go, especially with a premise that revolves around Lively's villain Emily inexplicably out of jail and getting married in Italy, but if Feig and his cast can unabashedly embrace the camp, this could still be a story worth telling.

If the script and overall tone lean fully into the telenovela-tier absurdity of the situation, then this could be one of the most shamelessly entertaining offerings of next year, even if it's hardly something most were actively asking for.
