10 Movies Ruined By Fan Overhype

4. Us

Jordan Peele's Us was one of 2019's most anticipated films, serving as the follow-up to Peele's Oscar-winning smash hit debut Get Out.

Given the zeitgeist-capturing success of Get Out, Peele's new legion of fans were eager to see the brand of twisted, darkly humourous satirical horror he'd bring to his second feature.

And while Us received largely positive reviews from critics, the reaction from general audiences was rather more muted, landing a not-bad "B" CinemaScore, compared to Get Out's "A-" rating.

The problem was that fans basically made the movie they wanted to see in their heads, and when Us turned out to be a very different beast to Get Out, they didn't really know what to do with it.

Less outwardly satirical than Peele's previous film and basically a meaner, weirder beast of a movie overall, Us left many feeling a bit deflated.

They simply expected to see Get Out 2.0, when Peele's twisted, ambitious - and yes, flawed - vision was actually something else entirely.
