10 Movies Ruined By Glaring Factual Inaccuracies

3. Spider-Man: Mobile Phones Don't Have A Dial Tone

Hollywood often gets tech wrong, probably because most directors are gurus in the ways of film, but not necessarily all things hi-tech, but that's no excuse for this Spider-Man gaffe.

In the original Sam Raimi movie, there's a scene where Harry Osborn is speaking to Mary Jane Watson over the phone. She hangs up on him, and a dial tone is heard.

Presumably, this is to make it abundantly clear MJ has ended the convo and left the future Goblin Jr in a world of radio silence, but there's just one problem: mobile phones do not have dial tones.

Granted this was several years before the launch of the iPhone sparked mobile mania, but it's safe to assume Raimi, or somebody attached to the film's production had used a handset at some point in their lives. Major communication breakdown!
