10 Movies Scenes That You Probably Fast-Forwarded As A Kid

3. Feed The Birds - Mary Poppins

In retrospect, there's something haunting or even emotionally resonant about Mary Poppins' "Feed the Birds" sequence, in which Julie Andrews offers up a snow globe and a bedtime story for the Banks children, and unleashes a strange, seemingly random song about some old lady feeding pigeons in the park. At the time, it all seemed so incredibly out of the blue, like it'd been thought of on a whim. For a kid, it was also "the boring bit." So coming off the back of zany, more colourful moments, "Feed the Birds" only seemed to exist to slow down the fun - slow, melancholy, and nowhere near as fun as anything Dick Van Dyke had been doing, the entire sequence literally begged to be skipped over (and so the fast-forward button came in handy). There was also a chance that this sequence scared the hell out of any kid who laid eyes upon it, too... 'cause actually, it's all pretty weird.
