10 Movies So Crazy Over The Top They Were Hilarious
8. Face/Off
John Woo's crowning achievement in Hollywood by a country mile, one of the major strengths of Face/Off is that it knows exactly how stupid it is and enthusiastically embraces that fact, with the end result being 138 minutes of pure popcorn entertainment.
There's no doubt that the movie wouldn't work anywhere near as well as it does without Nicolas Cage and John Travolta in the lead roles. Two A-list stars that have proven their capabilities as critically-acclaimed dramatic talents, but are also more than willing to throw the shackles off and devour the scenery when the occasion calls for it. Luckily for us Face/Off is just that occasion, with Cage and Travolta delivering a masterclass in overacting.
Woo throws everything but the kitchen sink into the mix, and even if he did it would probably gracefully fly across the screen in slow motion. Mexican standoffs, people jumping through the air firing two guns, an exploding plane, a boat chase, a constant hail of bullets and a sh*tload of doves all combine to form a demented and undisputed action classic.
