2. Terminator Salvation

The Terminator franchise is notorious for spoiling pretty much every major twist it's ever had in the trailers, and Terminator Salvation's marketing committed perhaps the most baffling spoilerific sin of all by shamelessly revealing the mid-film twist, that Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) is in fact a human-cyborg hybrid.

Despite the intriguing potential of this big reveal, it gave many fans enough of a clue to guess that Marcus would end up sacrificing himself to save John Connor (Christian Bale).

Still, there was hope that Marcus' identity would be revealed early on, perhaps at the end of the first act, making way for other, more surprising twists and turns that hadn't been spoiled yet.

Sadly that wasn't the case at all, and presumably in the hope of getting butts in seats, they gave away the movie's most interesting reveal for free, consequently allowing fans to piece together the ending.
