10 Movies So Predictable Everyone Thought They Were Tricking Us
3. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Now, from the second a Batman v Superman movie was announced, nobody with any knowledge of how Hollywood or superhero movies works actually assumed that Zack Snyder would be making a film focused entirely on Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) fighting one another.
It wasn't tough to figure out that they'd be at odds for the first two-thirds of the film, only to team up in order to take down a bigger threat in the finale - that's pretty much the go-to formula of any ".vs" movie starring two iconic characters.
But the precise nature of that third act villain was up in the air...at least until Warner Bros. needlessly spoiled that it would be Doomsday...and that its rampage would be interrupted by the fist-pumping arrival of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot).
Fans nevertheless crossed their fingers that Snyder had extra surprises in store for fans - perhaps the arrival of Darkseid? - but ultimately the film took exactly the generic, simplistic trajectory most fans feared it would.
Sure, many expected Bats and Supes to fight each other for a little longer than seven minutes, so that was surprising, but the sheer confidence with which Warner Bros. dropped major spoilers left fans hoping for some third act surprises that sadly never came.
