10 Movies So Predictable Everyone Thought They Were Tricking Us

5. Mission: Impossible - Fallout

It should be relatively easy to keep the marketing for a Mission: Impossible movie spoiler-free - after all, the primary attraction has always been Tom Cruise almost killing himself for our entertainment rather than the plot.

So it's a bit of a shame that, with the recent sixth film touting arguably the most nuanced and intriguing narrative in the franchise to date, the trailers freely spoiled that Henry Cavill's August Walker was in the fact the central antagonist.

In fact, this was so obvious that some fans began to doubt their own spoiler-sense and assumed that the film would end with Cavill joining the team, Fast and the Furious-style, effectively serving as Jeremy Renner's replacement.

But the plentiful clips of Walker and Cruise's Ethan Hunt chasing each other in helicopters and fighting atop a cliff were all represented in earnest and taken from the very end of the movie's third act.

Given that Fallout could've focused its marketing on the film's other villain, the returning Solomon Lane (Sean Harris), the emphasis on Walker felt like a misdirect. But bizarrely enough, the trailers were playing it totally straight...for some reason.
