Castiel is a fan favourite on the show, his constantly serious demeanour, his naiveté and inability to comprehend elements of human culture and communication giving him a charming and almost child-like air about him. If that’s the only role you are familiar with Misha Collins in, you might be in for a surprise with this very dark crime drama, based on a tragic true story.

Misha plays Paul Bernardo, a Canadian serial-killer and rapist who raped at least seventeen woman and killed at least four in the 1980s and early 1990s. In his later crimes, his wife Karla Homolka was also an accomplice, though there is still much speculation as to whether she was a willing accomplice or was forced by Bernardo.

The movie is a low-budget independent movie, so don’t go in expecting a massive budget, but it does star Misha as Paul Bernardo and Laura Prepon as his wife Karla, so the acting is of a high calibre. Misha is as far from Castiel as could be here and is downright creepy as real-life killer. There’s a scene in which a particularly young victim is crying, scared for her life and he forces her to insult herself, calling herself a slut. He then turns, nearly to the camera, grins and says “I like this one.” Chills will go down your spine.
