7. A Nightmare On Elm Street - Katie Cassidy
Katie Cassidy played the original incarnation of the demon Ruby in the third season of Supernatural. A sassy and sexy ass-kicker, she helped Sam and Dean out on more than one occasion and had a bad-ass demon-slaying knife. She was unfortunately replaced in the fourth season by Genevieve Cortese.
Cassidy has gone on to have a great career, playing many roles on TV and in film. In 2010 she played the role of Kris Fowles in the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. Whilst not the best remake of a classic horror movie, there are several things to love in this remake and one of them is Cassidy.
Playing a role similar to that filled by Tina (Amanda Wyss) in the original film, Kris is initially set up as the main protagonist of the film, experiencing recurring nightmares of Freddy Krueger. Ultimately though, she is set up for chop in a first act twist that sees her replaced as the central character.
This version of the film is able to delve deeper into the origins of Freddy, able to approach subject matter that could only be hinted at in the original. It also introduces the concept of micronaps which is a wonderful addition to the Elm Street mythos and allows for great potential scares in any future Elm Street instalments that might use it.
