10 Movies Sylvester Stallone Should Have Taken A Bullet To The Head Rather Than Starring In

3. Bullet to the Head

To be fair, Bullet to the Head is not actually released yet - and is somewhat the motivation behind this article in the first place - but I attended a screening of it recently, and free of an embargo, am able to talk about it. Though directed by Walter Hill of The Warriors fame, this woefully inept action vehicle is unquestionably one of Sly's worst, most effortless films to date, and there's no doubt that had the actor not signed up for the graphic novel adaptation, then it would essentially be straight-to-video fodder starring Luke Goss or Cuba Gooding Jr. The film is pure cheese, but without the self-awareness to render it genuinely entertaining; the casual sexism, blues rock soundtrack, terrible acting, inane script, dodgy editing and boring action add up to make this one of the most dispiriting actioners in years. The worst thing, though, is Stallone's adamant refusal to admit his age; here he's in his mid-sixties, yet beats up the likes of Jason Momoa - that is, guys half his age - with relative ease. Plot elements began leaking from my mind within minutes of leaving the screening room; this really is some of the worst that the actor has to offer.
