10 Movies That Accidentally Made You Love The Villains
3. Beetlejuice - Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice still stands as one of Tim Burton’s greatest creations. Just the second film in the directors career, the horror/comedy masterpiece was the perfect playground for the famously off-kilter director. The oddball visuals and creepy practical effects cemented his cult status, and proved to be the launch point for him to make Batman.
The character of Beetlejuice is just your basic demon brought in to help scare off new, unwanted inhabitants. Yet that’s the only normal thing about him. His hilarious and inappropriate attitude causes far more problems than he can solve, dragging poor Barbara and Adam into a whole world of chaos.
Initially summoned to help the newly deceased couple, Beetlejuice manages to offend them so much that they reconsidering working with him. They come back around to the idea, when the realise their own efforts to terrorise the new occupants is failing miserably.
This, of course, is why we love him. The foul-mouthed demon is constantly quipping – when not hitting on Barbara – and dreams of a freedom he can’t have. Granted that freedom is purely based on sexual fantasies and other gross nonsense. The ghost with the most wants nothing more than to terrorise the living and have a great time while doing it. We can all relate to that.
