10 Movies That Completely Swap Genre For Just One Scene

9. The Tunnel - Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory

€œAround the world and home again, that€™s the sailor€™s way!€ proclaims Gene Wilder€™s enigmatic chocolate magnate Willy Wonka before steering his unwitting guests away from a fun family frolic into a scene straight from a creepy horror film. As they go down the tunnel, Wonka starts singing about the €œgrizzly reaper,€ and strange visions start appearing. €œWhat is this a freak out?€, €œYou can€™t possibly see where you€™re going, Wonka!€ and €œI am going to be sick€ are among the reactions from the other characters. The children and parents start screaming and begging Wonka to stop. Clearly €“ we€™re not in a happy-go-lucky movie any more. And then, the boat stops and they all get off. The scene serves an important purpose, though €“ to add a tinge of darkness to the film and suggest that all is not as it seems with Wonka, sewing seeds that will be reaped later on.
