10 Movies That Could Win Best Picture Next Year

2. Billy Lynn€™s Long Halftime Walk

On paper, this movie sounds a little insane. Telling of a a serviceman after he becomes disillusioned with being a war hero upon his return from Iraq, the film takes place as the titular Billy Lynn walks onto the field for the halftime show at a Dallas Cowboys game. In addition, it boasts an eclectic cast including the likes of Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, and Steve Martin. The one man who ties this all together makes it go from sounding like a zany adventure to an immediate Oscar threat is director Ang Lee. The two-time Best Director winner has proven that he€™s got what the Academy is looking for, with his out-there hits Brokeback Mountain and Life Of Pi surprisingly resonating greatly with the voting audience. His visual style is incredible and his efforts to shoot in an immersive, high-frame rate 3D will no doubt lure voters in with its technical spectacle. The source is an acclaimed novel and the last time Lee adapted one of those he nearly took home Best Picture. Not to mention this time he€™s got Slumdog Millionaire writer Simon Beaufoy on script duties. Billy Lynn€™s Long Halftime Walk certainly sounds weird, but isn't that what Lee does best?
